The robotics team, the Underdogs, is preparing for the preseason robot competition in December.

The team was founded in 2019 and is made up mostly of refugees. Team challenges included limited funding and an initial shortage of members.

Due to the team’s success, membership has increased.

After 3 years of working diligently, the team has achieved many accomplishments and awards such as Utah Engineering Design Awards, and first place in the Mousetrap Car competition.

“It’s a fantastic thing to see,” said Yuri Perez, the robotics coach. “For an educator, that is a dream come true.”
